ILM has been working with the UK Workforce Development hub of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations to develop qualifications to meet the specific leadership and management needs of the voluntary sector. We also recently formed a partnership with Volunteering England to recognise the high standards of their management development as an ILM Endorsed Programme.
How ILM supports the sector
ILM currently offers a suite of VRQs (vocationally related qualifications) for people managing volunteers:
- Level 3 Award in Management of Volunteers – suitable for first line managers supervising and supporting volunteers
- Level 3 Certificate in Management of Volunteers – also aimed at first line managers, this qualification builds on the award by looking at managing volunteer agreements
- Level 5 Award in Management of Volunteers – a qualification for those responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers
- Level 5 Certificate in Management of Volunteers – builds on the award with further options to improve leadership skills.
