Top tips for seeking staff online

Online recruitment

Make your website work for you
The first thing you should do is advertise any positions on your own site. Does your careers section tell potential recruits what your company stands for? You should be selling your culture, value and ethics as well as the position itself

Choose the right site
There are hundreds of online recruitment sites and not all of them will be right for your company. Specialist positions might be better off advertised on industry specific websites, meaning you’re targeting a particular audience

Stand out from the crowd
Make your advert interesting and with just enough information to pique the interest. Many sites offer a paid-for ‘hot box’ facility, which can come in handy for positions that urgently need filling, but remember, you’re looking for quality candidates, not quantity

Link up with universities
Graduates are a great source of fresh talent. Get involved with universities and colleges with courses in your field, provide information for their careers service, and advertise positions in newsletters

Make the most of your network
Often you can find the right recruit by asking your peers. An email to business associates appealing for prospective candidates can field top talent – just don’t bombard colleagues with requests, as you’ll reap less response
