12 employees from Lafarge Aggregates, the global building materials company, recently celebrated achieving their ILM Level 5 Leadership Award with an ILM cake.

Lafarge celebrate their achievement with an ILM cake

Participants in the Leadership Award were identified through Lafarge's 'Talent Enablement Programme'. The programme recognises employees from all areas of Lafarge A & C UK for their potential, acting as the 'red thread' across its people development activity.

For several years Lafarge has benefited from the flexibility of the ILM management programmes to create bespoke development options for managers at many levels in the business but this is their first Leadership Award. The achievement was featured in the Lafarge worldwide magazine Pulse.

At an award ceremony held in June participants reported the impact of the learning to their own management and Managing Director, Robert Whetstone.

Robert Whetstone said: "In the future, leadership will be the key differentiator between businesses and consequently People Development is one of the four operational priorities. We are committed to the development of our people and, for these 12 colleagues, your skills as leaders. In the current economic climate and the challenges we face going forward, there is no better time than now for developing leaders and great leadership."

The Award was delivered by tutor Lisa Flude on behalf of South Leicestershire College.
